Abstract

1,181,795. Walking stick. A. S. SEAMARK. 18 July, 1967 [26 July, 1966], No. 33614/66. Heading A4P. A walking stick for use by invalids comprises a stick portion 1 with a handle 2 at its upper end and its lower end frictionally engaged in a recess 7 in a cup-shaped member 8 made of a resilient flexible material having a flange 9 around its lower edge secured in a recess 10 formed in a triangular base part 3, the base part having three downwardly projecting feet 16 with rubber or like non-slip pads 17 on the ends. The flexible cup-shaped member may be held in the recess 10 by means of a retaining washer 11 and bolts 15. The stick is suitably made of aluminium, wood or plastic and may be made adjustable in length by providing the handle with a portion of reduced cross section which telescopes into the hollow upper end 4 of the stick and is secured by locking pins and springs.
