Abstract

Guillotine type vertically sliding window has sashes (13, 14) which can pivot (17) about their lower horizontal edges to swing into the building for cleaning of the outer faces. Each sash embodies a runner locating externally on lower lateral edges; these runners slide in vertical grooves provided in each lateral member of the window frame (10) and also incorporating the pivotable connections (17). Pref. each pivot embodies a cam mechanism for locking the window in vertical or inclined stations. There is an adjustable helix (19) for counterbalance and prevention of unwanted inclination of the leaf under its own weight.
