Abstract

Disposable dust container for a vacuum cleaner has a disc attached to an open end of the bag, with an opening into the bag. A foil of thin elastomer is attached to the disc and extends completely and transversely across the opening. It has a curved slot through it, defining a shoulder at the centre of the opening and formed by cutting or removing material from the foil. The shoulder defines a passage in the material and has a geometrically curved configuration with a geometrical centre. The slot has concavely curved end parts extending in a direction to the geometrical centre of the shoulder, so that tearing of the elastomer is prevented to the extend that the end sections are in a region under small stress when the opening is radially enlarged during use in a vacuum cleaner.
