Abstract

1370750 Nipping cutters KNOGO CORP 1 Nov 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 50326/72 Heading B3W To remove a tack 76 fastening a label 24 to an article 26 and anchored in a plastic button 28, the button is inserted in an opening 20 in a cover 12 (broken away in Fig. 2) of a shearing device and engaged with a fixed nipping blade 22. A movable nipping blade 36 actuated through a toggle linkage 60, 62 and a handle 18 squeezes the button between itself and the fixed blade so that both blades take part in the shearing action. A resilient wall 72 of a shoot 68, leading to an outlet 74, moved by a movable blade mounting block 40 during the shearing action springs back to cover the opening when the blade is retracted by raising the handle 18. The forward and rearward movements of the blade are limited by stops 66 and 48 respectively. The cutting edge of the fixed blade is bevelled at (86), Fig. 7 (not shown) so that the blade 36 can ride up the blade 22 slightly to protect the cutting edges.
