Abstract

905,009. Tea bags. SALOMON, J. Feb. 6, 1961 [March 1, 1960], No. 7273/60. Class 94(1). A tea bag has attached to it a strip of non-absorbent material which is sufficiently flexible to be bent but rigid enough to retain its bent over form. The tea bag 1 is formed by feeding a web of suitable material, inserting tea at intervals, doubling over the web and heat sealing it and finally cutting the web into individual bags. The strip 2 may be fed with the web and during heat sealing may be sealed to one or two edges of the bag 1. The strip 2 may be bent over to form a support for the bag, Fig. 3, or may be wrapped about the handle of a spoon, &c., Fig. 4 (not shown).
