Abstract

A typical wall construction has two layers (1, 8) separated by a continuous cavity (4). The primary layer (1) is formed of multi-cellular blocks embodying both inclined walls and ribs (3). The second layer has cells with open cells (7) facing the first layer and abutting insulation layer (5) of plastic sandwiched glass or mineral wool and incorporates inclined cell walls (9). The outer surface of the second layer is covered by a rendering or a concrete layer in the case of a floor construction. The adjacent cells are joined by reinforced mortar. The ribs (3) may be rounded, curved or T section and are asymmetric with respect to the centre line of the first layer.
