Abstract
The lateral tunnel (12) is provided in the ship's bow section (10) below the waterline and has drive and reversing means. The tunnel has a rotatable central section and fixed sections on the same centre line on either side thereof. The central section is rotatable about its centre line and means are provided to vary the pitch of the blades relative to a plane at right angles to the centre line. The pitch varying means may comprise a ring around the central tunnel section and means connecting each of the blades with this ring such that rotation of the ring varies the blade pitch.
