Abstract

The flexible projection (4) is normally clear of the screw thread around the outside of the container opening which has a notch (3) formed below the screw thread. When the closure (2) is fully screwed down the projection (4) is forced into the notch (3) by a band of a suitable material tightened on the outside of the closure into the grooves (5) and (6). An internal thread can also be used by expanding a spring ring, e.g. a circlip, into grooves formed on the inside of an internal closure thread, thus forcing flexible projections on a plug type closure into a surrounding notch.
