Abstract

The truss comprises two metal beams (11a & 11b) which are Z shaped and metal battens between them are welded to the beams. Rods (17a & b, 18a & b) are hinged to the beams at one end and their other ends are hinged to the rafters (25). The rafters are hinged at their central point (27). When the flat roof unit is delivered to site it is placed on the walls of the building. It is then lifted by it central point (27) until the rods take up a vertical position. When this occurs the rafters meet the ends of the beams and the assembly can be bolted to ensure rigidity.
