Abstract

The meter measures the circumferential or angular speed of at least one of the drive wheels, together with that of a free-running wheel. The switch circuit is programmed so that the load exerted on the tractor by the towed implement is reduced when the reading for slippage is high, and is increased when the reading for slippage is low. The tractor is fitted with an hydraulic lift, so that the metered slippage signal causes a signal to be sent to a control valve which introduces oil under pressure to that side of the hydraulic cylinder of the lift.
