Abstract

The trailer is towed behind and to one side of a tractor so that forks engage under a large dia. bale. The bale pushes stop (44), changing over valve (41) to direct hydraulic fluid into a jack. The jack extends, raising the forks and depositing the bale on a chain conveyor on the trailer platform. The conveyor drive pinion is connected through a gear train and a ratchet drive to the fork mounting shaft so that raising the fork causes the conveyor to move rearwardly. When the jack is extended, stop (43) engages abutment reversing the valve to the jack retracts, lowering the fork to receive the next bale.
