Abstract

Ski brake has brake arm(s) mounted laterally on the ski, to pivot about an axis at 90 deg. to the ski, and actuable by a spring toward an active braking position, in which it projects beneath the sole of the ski. A pedal-like element above the top of the ski, can be pressed down by the boot onto the ski surface, to return like the brake arm to an inactive position. The spring is located inside a sleeve, between one end and a piston, holding it against a cam which forms the transverse pivot axis of the arm and shaped so that the pressure exerted by the spring on the piston can be converted into a torque on the brake arm toward the active braking position. Leaving the brake in an inactive position at commencement of use is impossible, and the force actuation is not completely used in the active position also.
