Abstract

The ski brake is designed to stop the ski traveling if it comes apart from the ski shoe, for instance during a fail. The brake comprises two arms (9) fixed to each side of the ski and connected by a crosswise axle (11) about which they can pivot. The braking arms (9) can be operated by the ski shoe (1) or by a plate supporting the shoe. A spring mounted pedal (17) is pivoted to the crosswise axle and is attached to the brake arms, when the ski is in position the pedal is pressed flat under the ski-boot keeping the arms in an inactive position. When the ski is released from the boot the pedal springs out to bring the arms into operation.
