Abstract

The ski brake comprises two arms (7) which are pivotally mounted in brackets on either side of the ski mounting plate (1). An elastic spring (9) connects the two upper extremities of the arms (11) and biases them towards the braking position. Each of the braking arms has a main shaft (7a) positioned outside the respective bracket and carrying a brake shoe (8). Towards the proximal end of the arm where it cooperates with the bracket, the shaft has a U-shaped bend (7b). When a skier has his boot on the ski, the arms are raised but when he removes it, the spring urges the arms down to contact the ground.
