1,161,623. Roller skate. C. MELROSE. 3 March, 1967, No. 10058/67. Heading A6D. The invention relates to a roller skate having a platform and wheel mounted at each end thereof, there being provided a braking means to prevent the skate going backwards and also a braking means operated by the rider's heel to prevent forward movement of the skate. In Fig. I wheels 10 are mounted in axles 10a, in forks 15 attached to platform 16. Plate 13 hinged at 14 is rigidly, attached to platform 16 at one end and below plate 13 is a leaf spring 17. A brake lever 18 and pedal 19 are urged: upwards towards plate 13 by a coil spring 20 inserted in a recess in platform 16, link 22 extends towards the rear wheel, is attached to a bracket 23 and has a brake block 24 which contacts the wheel tyre 11 when the heel is depressed. .
