Abstract

The flukes are shaped into a double plough share which causes the fluke to drive further into the ground when the tension is increased on the anchor cable. The flukes are designed to swivel about the crown of the anchor so that should the cable foul the protruding fluke, this will collapse, and allow the cable to clear, without attempting to pull the anchor out of the ground. The flukes are also interchangeable with others, so that the correct fluke may be used according to the nature of the ground. The flukes have a V section which is deepest at the anchor crown, the V shaped ends of the flukes having sharpened edges.
