Abstract

Composite wooden door or window frames are assembled from separate sections so that warping is reduced. Basic wooden section (1) has one or more lateral mortices, the actual number depending on the thickness. Elements are joined laterally by using a slat, preferably of hardwood, which is coated with glue and inserted into opposite mortices, forming a double tenon joint. The material used for the slat is variable and can in fact by synthetic as opposed to timber. The resulting member is less liable to warping than one of similar dimensions cut from solid timber.
