Abstract

The surface speed of a spool winder is regulated by a friction roller having ends much larger in dia. than its middle section, so that the ends alone are in contact with the yarn. The friction roller is carried by a slide displaceable relatively to the localised winding spindle by a pneumatic arrangement counter-balancing the weight of the equipment. Both friction roller and winding spindle are individually driven, the torque of the yarn against the pressure roller being used to regulate the driving spindle speed.
