Abstract
Glass flowing out from a melting tank through a channel with >=2 sections is heated by a set of burners and cooled by a set of air jets. The temp. of the glass is detected at the top and bottom of the channel at the exit end of each section and signals are produced giving two different sets of temp. profiles. One set of profiles is used to control the input of heat from the burners, the other set to control the flow of cooling air in each channel section, so as to maintain a set of constant temp. conditions the length of the channel.
