Abstract

Furnishings comprising a resin foam core cast within a thermoformed cover where the cover is lined with a thin flexible impermeable elastic film prior to the casting of the foam mix. The impermeable film may be an overlay film or a coating sprayed up on to the interior of the cover fabric once in the mould. Pref. the lining is chemically compatible with the core foam materials. Used for furnishings where fabric is based on fibres with a softening temp. of 60-260, pref. 90-140 degrees C and the core is a polyurethane foam. Inhibits the impregnation and stiffening of the cover fabric by the fluid precursors of the foam core during casting. The impermeable lining may be a film of polyurethane resin weighing 20-60 g/m2 with an elongation to break of >=600%.
