Abstract

Material is injected at the base of the heel and directed against the bearing face to obtain progressive filling of the mould. Injection at the base of the heel, whether for moulding heels or for integral heel and sole assemblies ensures uniform temps. and absence of defective weld lines. Multiple injection channels may be situated in the mould cores used for lightening the heel. Alternatively injection may be at the sides, provided entry is opposite the cores. For heels with wear reinforcements injection may be from the base through the core, the top part of the heel being used for spreading the material. In an integral heel and sole assembly injection is still made at the base of the heel.
