Abstract

The gimped yarn comprises pref. an elastomeric core yarn (e.g. Lycra (RTM)) having an outer winding of pref. 1000 turn/m of textured polyamide yarn and is treated pref. in an autoclave by vapour at 50-90 degrees C to fix the elasticity, and the gimped yarn is combined with a loose fibre yarn (pref. wool) by twisting in an opposite direction to the twist of the gimped yarn. The yarn is used for knitting, and after knitting the elasticity of the yarn can be realised. Knitting is made easier and the knitted products have a good dimensional stability.
