Abstract

A fake selvedge is formed from two interlacing yarns which pass through respective guides on a carriage of a second parallel axially movable rod. The interlacing yarn guides can cross traversely the tying yarn guide in opposite directions and the rods are moved axially by a mechanical linkage operated by the loom cam-shaft. PreF. the linage is a two arm linkage one end of which has a follower running in a cam track on the cam-shaft. Pref. the carriages can be locked to the rods and the interlacing yarn guides can be locked in one or other of their transverse positions. The mechanism is compact and operates more consistently than spring operated devices.
