Abstract

A mechanism for leno-weaving side or centre selvedges has means to raise a standard thread out of co-operation with a leno thread so that more than one weft thread is wovenin by the leno thread before the crossing of the leno thread over standard thread. In Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) the standard threads are passed through stationary healds 11 and the leno threads through a reciprocating slide 7\sv that has slanting hooked slots 8 that co-operate with the pointed ends of the standard healds 11 to shed the leno threads on alternate sides of the standard healds. In Fig. 8 (not shown) a standard heald 11 may be raised so that its pointed end is above the top-most traverse of the leno heald and the appropriate leno thread is thus shed to one side only of the standard heald.
