Abstract

A device for forming a false selvedge on a woven fabric includes two frames, supporting yarn guides and moveable along guide rods. At each end of the guide rods are abutments against which the frames are constantly biassed by e.g. a coil spring and the yarn guides are freely pivoted on one of the frames. The other frames is provided with cam surfaces, which when the two frames are continuously moved together act on the yarn guides to continuously close them together and separate them so that selvedge yarns passing through guide eyes are continuously twisted around each other to form the false selvedge. Compared with previous devices the mechanism is simple, less prone to wear and vibration, and less likely to cause yarn breakages.
