Abstract

An enamelling steel contains 0.008% max C, 0.60% max Mn, 0.03-0.08% 0.05% (max) Cu, the remainder Fe and impurities for faster pickling and direct enamelling. The resulting steel has high ductility combined with uniform and speedy pickling ability (more than 21.52 gm2 surface steel removed in 5 mins. in a 7 wt.% solution of H2SO4 at 68.3 degrees C) necessary for deep drawing and direct enamelling.
