Abstract

Foam core material comprises a series of parallel cellular foam cores (20) arranged on a flat primary base layer (22) of fabric with a primary covering layer (24) of fabric arranged over the core and stitched to the primary base layer between the cores. A second set of parallel foam cores on a base layer with a covering layer is arranged with the cores interdigitated with the cores of the first set and the covering layers bonded together. The whole assembly is rigidified by a cured synthetic resin impregnant. Has further layers of fabric (32) applied over the faces to cover the stitching, being held in place by the synthetic resin. The structure may be vacuum formed and vacuum impregnated. Formation of boat hulls. Simple basic core structure which can easily be formed into complex shapes in which it is rigidified by resin impregnation into a strong composite structure.
