Abstract

Composite building panels with high acoustic insulation and thermal conductivity are made by using a polyurethane foam as a matrix for multicellular glass modules having a thin glassy skin and a cellular closed-cell glassy core. As the polyurethane foams, it separates the nodules and fills the void spaces such that the resultant panel has flexural properties approaching those of the cellular polyurethane and compressive properties approaching those of the nodules.
