Abstract

1,019,628. Prefabricated room units. ELCON A.G. Aug. 15, 1962 [Aug. 30, 1961; April 12, 1962], Nos. 31166/61 and 14138/62. Heading E1A. In a building composed of room elements 10 provided, if desired, with all requisite coolings, glazing, wiring, plumbing, heating and partition units &c. each room element is composed of at least two separately prefabricated sections 10a, 10b which are superimposed one on another during assembly, the division facilitating storage and transportation, see Fig. 2 (not shown). The uprights of the sections are interconnected as by a spigot-and-socket arrangement, see Fig. 3 (not shown). The walls 11, 12 may consist of inner and outer panels defining a cavity therebetween partly or wholly filled with a heat insulating material, see Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown), the outer panels being made of metal sheet or asbestos cement backed, if desired, by fibreboard. The sections may be made of prestressed or reinforced concrete incorporating external strengthening ribs, see Figs. 12-18 (not shown), the former arrangement having airconditioning or heading ducts in those reinforcing ribs which extend under the floor. Cork is incorporated in the various joints for details of which Figs. 18-21 (not shown) should be referred to.
