Abstract

The sun-oriented side of a building having several vertical walls has an external heat insulating layer in contact with the wall. This insulation layer has a layer of reinforced mortar on top of it. Solar energy cells comprising heat absorbers are positioned next to the insulation layer. A transparent front face are placed in front of the heat insulation surface. A metal framework constructed adjacent to the wall supports both the heat absorbers and the transparent front face independently. The wall of the building (1) has an external layer (2) of heat insulating material, e.g. expanded polystyrene blocks 6 or 7 cms thick thar are glued in place. This insulating layer is protected by a layer of reinforced mortar (3), e.g. 2 cms. thick. In front of the insulated wall is positioned the heat absorber (4) made up of a dark p ainted panel with channel elements for the circulation of a heat carrying fluid, e.g. water. In front of the heat absorbers is a transparent front panel (5) made of e.g. safety glass.
