Abstract
Mobile appts. for welding together successive lengths of piping as in parent patent but using electron bombardment has the electron gun located inside the pipe, outside the pipe or both inside and outside. The gun is sealed into a first enclosure which is connected to a secondary vacuum pump while its emission window opens into a secondary container connected to a primary vacuum pump. The first enclosure may be rotated with respect to the other and the position of the gun may be adjusted with respect to the joint to be made. Deformation of the pipe is avoided.
