Abstract

Tubes made of stainless steel are joined by soft soldering in a spigot-and-socket joint. At the radial plane where the end face of the inner tube contacts the socket of the outer tube, the outer tube has a greater wall thickness than in its socket section. This intensifies the cooling action on the soft solder enough to prevent it from running out on the inside of the tube joint. The joint produced is free from shrinkage caviities and airtight.
