Abstract

Maraging steel contains 10-15% Cr, 5-11% Ni, but to keep the Ms temperature above 163-177 degrees C, Ni+Cr content should be 18-22%, Si should be 1.5-3.0% to give increased strength and to ensure the notch toughness is not lowered. Mn should be below 1%, Ti and/or Al up to 0.2% each, and C up to 0.05%. The steel is suitable for high pressure blading, compressor rotors, corrosion resistant gearing, etc.
