Abstract

1,011,667. Froth-flotation cells. ELECTRO-PHYSIQUE S.A.R.L. March 14, 1963 [March 14, 1962], No, 10194/63. Heading B2H. A froth-flotation plant comprises a plurality of cells of which at least one is associated with a shoot for receiving unfloated matter, the shoot having two openings for the supply thereto or outflow therefrom of unfloated matter. As shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 5, a double series of shoots is provided between two rows of cells 1-6. The shoot adjacent the cell 1 has discharge openings 15, 73, either of which can be closed as shown in Figs. 2 and 6 depending on whether the cell is to be arranged in series or in parallel with the other cells. In Fig. 2, the products to be treated are fed into the cell 1 through an opening 16 and the floats discharged with the froth over the side opposite to that of the shoot while the unfloated products discharge to the next cell 2 via both a lower opening 18 and a recess 17 and then openings 15, 58; the opening 18 and recess 17 may be provided with adjustable doors. The unfloated products of the cell 2 are then discharged through both a lower opening 60 and a recess 59 and then through openings 29, 38 to the cell 3 ; the products then pass through the cells 4, 5 and 6 in a similar manner. In Fig. 6, the products are caused to pass from cell 1 to cell 3 by closing discharge opening 15 and discharge opening 73 so that the discharge through the openings 17, 18 is directed through an opening 38; the products then pass through the next cell 5 in a similar manner. In another arrangement, Fig. 7, the shoots between the cells, which are offset with one another, are provided with discharge openings a and b, either of which can be closed depending on whether it is desired to effect parallel flow through the cells as shown or otherwise. The cells may be arranged so that some operate in series and others in parallel by opening or closing the appropriate discharge opening in each shoot.
