Abstract
977,339. Moles. A. J. STAEMPFLI. Oct. 17, 1961 [Oct. 17, 1960], No. 4695/64. Divided out of 977,338. Heading E1H. A mole comprises a plurality of concrete elements 1 erected on the ground in a row, each element having two jambs 2 and 3 spaced apart at their lower ends and joined together at their upper ends, the upper ends of the elements being formed into an integral assembly by a capping 5, applied thereto and the elements 1 are provided with ridges 13 for breaking waves, a ridge 14 also forms a gangway. The jambs 3 are wider than the jambs 2 so as to form gaps 16 and wider gaps 17 to permit water to flow through the mole. Two rows of elements I may be formed with a single capping 5. A mole may be formed in front of an existing breakwater, formed in any way, and be formed with a pinnacle capping and the elements may be arranged in groups defining passages for the return of water.
