Several excellent compositions are known in the cosmetic market, most of which are based on synthetic elements. Skin regenerating compositions made by cosmetic factories improve the condition of the skin surface due to their ras-10 fat and water content. The object of the present invention was to find plant parts which may be obtained as waste when treating crops, by extraction of which solutions of the active ingredient which regenerate and moisturize the skin can be obtained.

Maize (Zea mays) was selected for this purpose. Corn is - as is well known - an industrial plant that came to Europe from America in 1493 and is known in Europe and now also in America mainly as a crop. It is cultivated to produce grains, while harvest residues (hypsophyll) consisting of hard fibers, corn cob, corn stalk and corn "feather" (corn beard) are discarded as ordinary waste.

Due to the mechanical action, the flour obtained from 30 corn cobs has already been used in toothpastes (HU-PS

118,580), for the preparation of small sticks for polishing teeth (DE-PS 656,808) and as adsorptive powders for drying secretions in connection with skin diseases caused by inflammatory dermatitis (US-PS 35 2,890,151 and 3,278,383). Cornmeal has also been used to treat skin diseases of acne origin (US-PS 3,530,217).

However, no information has been provided in these patent publications on the regenerating or moisturizing effect of aqueous or alcoholic solutions prepared from corn cob, corn flour has not been used for this purpose. The extract is prepared by dissolving or boiling parts of the plant with water or a mixture of water and a water-miscible organic solvent, preferably ethanol and water.

The compositions of the invention have the expected beneficial effect.

The skin cream (Example 9) was studied in 50 women aged 35 to 20 to 63 years. The cream was applied twice a day, morning and evening, after a thorough cleaning of 3,85943.
