A shoe has a wooden sole 1 with a joint 7 in the region of the ball of the foot and a leather upper 2 with a bellows element 9 inserted in the upper 2 above the joint 7. The joint is formed by a V-shaped groove between sole parts 4, 5 and a plate 6 of leather or synthetic plastics. A rubber outsole 8 is glued to the sole bottom and follows the sides of the groove, the outsole being connected to the plate 6 at the apex of the groove. A strap 3 is pivoted to the upper 2 and can be used as a heel strap or an instep supporting strap (not shown).
