Abstract
1,151,090. Boots &c. DESMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. 23 Dec., 1966, No. 57767/66. Heading A3B. A heavy duty shoe or boot e.g. safety footwear or a ski boot, having a multi-part sole secured to the upper of the shoe or boot comprises nitrile rubber tread means secured to an intermediate sole 12 which consists of plastics material e.g. polyvinyl chloride, which has been injection moulded on to the upper. In a first embodiment (Fig. 1) the tread layer 13, 16 of nitrile rubber extends over the whole of the sole and heel, the end 13a of the sole being embedded in the heel. The layers 13, 16 are bonded to the intermediate sole by adhesive 14. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2) e.g. a ski boot, the nitrile rubber 17 extends only over heavily loaded areas e.g. the toe and heel.
