CONSISTE EN: A) HACER REACCIONAR UNCOMPUESTO DE FORMULA (II) CON UN COMPUESTO DE FORMULA (III); B) SEPARAR LOS GRUPOS PROTECTORES DE LA SAL DE FORMULA (I); Y C) CAMBIAR EL ANION EN LA SAL RESULTANTE DE FORMULA (I), DONDEES EL RESTO DE AGENTE QUELANTE CAPAZ DE FORMAR QUELATO CON UNN RADIONUCLEIDO METALICO, TENIENDO DICHO AGENTE QUELANTE UN GRUPO FUNCIONAL AMINO PRIMARIO, SECUNDARIO O TERCIARIO. TIENE APLICACION EN LA PREPARACION DE AGENTES RADIOFARMACEUTICOS POR PERMITIR NIVELES INCREMENTADOS DE CONCENTRACION DE RADIONUCLEIDO EN EL CEREBRO.
