CONSISTE EN LA REACCION DE CLORO CON ETILENO, EVENTUALMENTE EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR, A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE 20 Y 150C, EN UNA FASE, Y REACCION EN OTRA FASE DE ETILENO CON CLORURO DE HIDROGENO Y OXIGENO, EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR Y EVENTUALMENTE GASES INERTES, A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE 180 Y 300 C; SEPARACION DEL 1,2-DICLOROETANO FORMADO E INTRODUCCION DE LOS GASES QUE QUEDAN EN EL RECIPIENTE DE REACCION EN EL QUE TIENE LUGAR LA REACCION DE ETILENO CON CLORURO DE HIDROGENO Y OXIGENO. EL 1,2-DICLOROETANO SE APLICA FUNDAMENTALMENTE PARA LA FABRICACION DE CLORURO DE VINILO.
