CONSISTE EN SOMETER UN SUSTRATO SELECIONADO DEL GRUPO FORMADO POR ACDO ISOBUTIRICO, ACIO METACRILICO Y UNA MEZCLA EL ACIDO ISOBUTIRICO Y METACRILICO A LA ACCION DE UN MICROORGANISMO CAPAZ DE CONVERTIR EL SUSTRATO EN ACIDO D(-)-BETA-HIDROXIISOBUTIRICO EN MEDIO ACUOSO. EL ACIDO PRODUCIDO SE RECUPERA DEL MEDIO QUE LE RODEA Y SE PURIFICA POR CROMATOGRAFIA EN COLUMNA SOBRE GEL DE SILICE. EL MICROORGANISMO PUEDE CULTIVARSE AEROBICAMENTE EN UN MEDIO NUTRIENTE ACUOSO QUE CONTIENE EL SUSTRATO, O PUEDE CULTIVARSE PRIMERO EN UN MEDIO NUTRIENTE ACUOSO Y DESPUES AÑADIRLE EL SUSTRATO, INCUBANDO AEROBICAMENTE LA MEZCLA RESULTANTE. DE USO COMO COMPUESTO INTERMEDIO UTILES PARA LA SINTESIS DE SUSTANCIAS FISIOLOGICAMENTE ACTIVAS QUE CONTIENEN ATOMO DE CARBONO ASIMERICOS.
