CONSISTE EN LA DETERMINACION DE LA POSICION ANGULAR DEL ARBOL MOTOR, COINCIDE CON LA QUE EL VALOR DE LA RELACION DEL VOLUMEN DE GASES QUEMADOS CON RESPECTO AL VOLUMEN TOTAL DE GASES EN EL CILINDRO ALCANZA UN VALOR FIJO Y SE MODIFICA EL ENCENDIDO PARA QUE LA POSICION ANTERIOR COINCIDA CON UNA POSICION ANGULAR PREDETERMINADA, CORRESPONDIENDO A LA REGULACION OPTIMA DEL ENCENDIDO PARA UN RENDIMIENTO MAXIMO DEL MOTOR. PARA LA DETERMINACION DE LA RELACION DE LOS VOLUMENENS SE EMPLEA UNA SONDA IONICA.
