Abstract
In an electronic track-diagram signal box, the element groups consist of failsafe track modules which are of uniform design. Three memory modules (ASM, GSM, ESM) and a geography module (GM) are connected to a computer module (RM) which contains two microprocessors which process their results independently. One (ASM) of the memory modules contains two separate read-write memories (AS1, AS2) as working memories for the microprocessors, a further memory module (GSM) contains a read-only memory (GS) with a basic program which is independent of the functions of the element groups and the same for each track module. The third memory module (ESM) contains a variable number of plug-in read-only memories (ES1... ESn) in which the functions of the element groups formed by the track module are specified. The track module has standardised interfaces (SN) to all the adjacent modules, to a control assembly and to the external system.
