Novel aminoalkylfuran derivatives of the general formula I: < IMAGE > in which the symbols have the meaning given in claim 1, are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula (II) or (III) < IMAGE > with a compound of the formula < IMAGE >. The aminoalkylfuran derivative may be used in the form of the free base or in the form of a physiologically acceptable salt or a hydrate. These novel aminoalkylfuran derivatives inhibit gastric acid secretion when this secretion is stimulated by way of histamine H2 receptors.
