Abstract

Procedimiento para la obtención de una mezcla de compuestos polihidroxílicos de bajo peso molecular, así como, en caso dado, hidroxialdehidos e hidroxicetonas, por condensación de hidrato de formaldehído en presencia de un 0,02-10% en peso, referido al formaldehído, de compuestos de metal como catalizador, así como de un 0-10% en peso, referido al formaldehído, de compuestos de metal como catalizador, así como de un 0-10% en peso, referido al formaldehído, de co-catalizadores a base de compuestos capacitados para la formación de endiol, caracterizado porque formaldehído se condensa a una temperatura de reacción de 10-150ºC en presencia de I. Un compuesto soluble o insoluble de un metal del primero al octavo grupo secundario o del segundo al cuarto grupo principal del sistema periódico de los elementos, en caso dado ligado a soportes de alto peso molecular, y II. Más de un 10% en peso, referido al formaldehído, de uno o varios alcoholes di- o polivalentes, de bajo peso molecular, y/o compuestos polihidroxílicos de alto peso molecular, la reacción se interrumpe en forma en sí conocida con un contenido residual de un 0-10% en peso de formaldehído, por desactivación del catalizador, el catalizador se retira y los grupos aldehído y ceto, en caso dado existentes en el productos de reacción, se reducen a grupos hidroxilo.
