Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:4-O-Methylaclacinomycin A of formula I and its acid adducts.
USE: Antitumorigenic agent; for example, they remarkably prohibit the proliferation of cultured cells of mouse leukemia (L1210) and synthesis of nucleic acids.
PREPARATION: The selective methylation of the hydroxyl group in the 4-position of the compound of formula II or its acid adduct to give the compound of formula I. Aclacinomycin A of formula II is a compound invented by Umezawa, et al (cf, J.P laid-open No.51-34915) and produced by the fermentation of Streptomyces MAI 44-MI (FERM-2455).
