Abstract

Un método de aumentar la velocidad de absorción de agua o de soluciones salinas de un polímero reticulado insoluble en agua seleccionado entre la clase que consta de homopolímero de acrilamida, copolímeros de acrilamida y un segundo monómero vinílico copolimerizable con ella, homopolímeros de acrilato de sodio, homopolímeros de metacrilato de sodio, y polisacáridos injertados con copolímeros de acrilamida y un segundo monómero vinílico copolimerizables con ella, cuyo método comprende combinar partículas de dicho polímero con un medio líquido que no es disolvente para el polímero y que contiene glioxal, agitar la mezcla, separar las partículas de polímero del medio líquido y secar las partículas, continuándose la agitación hasta que quede sobre las partículas aproximadamente 0,2 a 5% en peso del glioxal cuando se elimine el medio líquido.
