Procedure for preparing heterocyclicly substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives of formula **(See formula)** wherein R1 is alkyl, alkenyl, halogenoalkyl, optionally substituted aralkyl, optionally substituted aryl, alkylthio, alkylsulfonyl, alkylsulfoxyl, aralkylthio, aralkylsulfonyl, or aralkylsulfoxyl, R2 is the integer 1 or 2; characterized in that 1,3,4-thiadiazolyl- (2) -ureas of formula **(See formula)** in which R1 has the meaning indicated above, m represents the integer 2 or 3 and Hal is halogen, particularly chlorine, they are heated, with the addition of acid binding agents and optionally in the presence of diluents, at a temperature of 50 to 120ºC, and the hexahydropyrimidin-2-one or imidazolidin-2-one, thus formed, of the formula **(See formula)** in which R1 and n have the meanings defined above, it is reacted with alkylating agents, such as dimethyl sulfate, diethyl sulfate, methyl iodide or ethyl iodide, with the addition of acid binding agents and optionally in the presence of diluents, at a temperature of -5ºC to + 100ºC.
