Abstract
1396858 Heterocyclic substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives BAYER AG 22 Jan 1974 [23 Jan 1973] 02904/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises heterocyclic-substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives of the Formula (I) in which R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl, alkenyl, haloalkyl, optionally substituted aralkyl or aryl, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl, alkylsulphoxyl, aralkylthio, aralkylsulphonyl, or aralkylsulphoxyl; R<SP>2</SP> is methyl or ethyl; and n is 1 or 2. They may be prepared by heating a 1,3,4-thiadiazolyl-(2)-urea of Formula (II) in which m is 2 or 3 and Hal is halogen, at 50 to 120‹ C. in the presence of an acid-binding agent, and reacting the hexahydropyrimidine-2-one or imidazolidin-2-one thus produced of Formula (III) with an alkylating agent in the prescence of an acid-binding agent at - 5 to + 100‹ C. The 1,3,4-thiadiazolyl-(2)-ureas of formula (II) may be prepared by reacting the appropriately substituted 2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole with cloroethylisocyanate or chloropropylisocyanate. The compounds of Formula (I) are used in herbicidal compositions.
