Abstract
A ship's steering device comprises a pump 6 in a duct 8, the duct 8 having an inlet 4 in the central longitudinal plane of the ship and a Y- shaped portion aft of the pump, the ratio between the areas of the inlet and the pump, and the ratio between the bifurcation and the outlets of the Y-shaped portion having certain specified values. Duct 8 is formed in a bow bulge 2. The portion of the duct immediately aft of the pump is divergent and branches into pipes 10, 11 which are each convergent and have pivotable shutters 13.
